Mr Robert Halfon MP Goes Green

Robert Halfon visits Chrodal Green

Well the snow did not show up, but Robert Halfon MP did!

Our local MP for Harlow spent at least an hour and a half listening to us this morning.
We have to admit to being rather starr struck. He was charming.

Dressed in a tasteful green suit and tie in honour of the ‘Green’ half of our name (completely lost on us until Robert mischievously pointed it out as he was about to leave - Emma his colleague wore green too), we found Robert Halfon to be passionate about his constituency - Harlow. Robert Halfon was approachable, very well informed and interested in our business and how it felt to be a SME working in our specialist field..

“Family businesses are the best sort. I am impressed this is such a family orientated company. Good businesses don’t just rely on their ability to manufacture, but on their personal relationships.” Robert Halfon MP.

“Mr Halfon came to see us because he was intrigued that a small company in Matching Tye could be awarded a project refurbishing Ronnie Scott’s and also be commissioned to design and make joinery for a large, modern house in Geneva.” Sally Rutty.

“We really appreciate this visit from our MP, who expressed an interest in us after talking to colleagues at a networking event for local companies last year. Robert Halfon is a huge asset to Harlow and he is obviously sincere in his support of the town and the people who live and work here. Robert demonstrated in-depth knowledge of local issues affecting us. He has a great sense of humour too, he was sporting a fetching green suit and tie in honour of the ‘Green’ half of our company name, which none of us spotted until he was about to leave. We were very impressed with him.” Mark Rutty, MD, Chordal Green Ltd.

Robert now has a CG fan club. We think he is swell and we love the thought that he has Gone Green. Thank you for coming to see us Robert.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe...

Fitted wardrobes / London house re-fit.

Snow is forecast for tonight so our farm-based workshop may look like the snow scene from Narnia tomorrow. We love snow ball fights and making snow ramps to fly from… not to mention our ability to make capacious and elegant wardrobes.

Another fast and furious week - CG concentrates on crafting fitted furniture for two residential re-fits for private clients in London. Just typical - we move our premises from London to the Essex / Hertfordshire border and we spend our time fitting interiors in the Big Smoke.

Our new website and social media are ongoing projects - thanks to Thread of the Web the class-act social media & web-build company we use. They were given this intriguing brief from our MD recently; “bespoke made fitted interiors, oil and wood dust, biker-joiner, beautiful and expensive furniture, fast cars, high-end, spider webs, luxury, original and idiosyncratic”, sums it up.

Forget Christmas shopping - we are still working!

16.12.14

Christmas is almost upon us and we are in-between fitting projects this week.

The hedgerow is silvered with frost, but inside our workshop is warmed by our wood burning stove. The hardiest of our joinery team are sporting t-shirts (must be mad), they work quickly and the atmosphere hums with energy as they sing along to the latest hip songs courtesy of Spotify.

The last few weeks of 2014 are spent manufacturing fitted furniture designed by Chordal Green.

We are working for private clients based in Knightsbridge who are redeveloping a large apartment building. The bedroom and living room furniture is simple - clean lines are enhanced with expensive materials. The look is pared-back almost masculine and understated. Each piece of storage for the kitchens we are making is carefully discussed and worked out collaboratively with our clients - beauty is in the detail.

If we don’t get time to write again may we wish you all a very peaceful and sparkling Christmas!

Welcome to our new website, Chordal Green goes live.

We have lots to tell you about our eccentric, creative and wonderful company. Our new website is not perfect yet, but it will be lively and we hope you will feel like part of Team C.G.

This site now points at our existing Social Media - we love Pinterest and Twitter - these will intrigue you too. We will get even better at this and even more fun to watch.

This blog's mission is to give you a sense of what it feels like to be a craftsman joinery business; run by a renegade furniture-maker called Mark Rutty - who loves making things, who has a passion for cars, motor bikes and anything that goes fast and makes a lot of noise.

First up a shot of one of the projects we have recently finished - which we love. We work alongside some brilliant crafts people and designers and this is the result of a recent collaboration.

More to follow so watch this space.
